Nothing but the facts here, dears. Believe me, I want nothing more than a safe pedi/mani on the cheap, by a friendly person, of reasonable quality. Unfortunately, that is not quite what Tina's offers. They do not clean their tools! Mani/ pedi tools come from a drawer littered with skin bits, not a solution! There is no sanitation of her hands, the counters, the tools, the bottles, from customer to customer. There is a poor selection of half full paint, and the paint comes out thick and won't dry on the nail. I'll be heading down the street, you should too.
I agree, stumbled into this little salon last weekend and was pleasantly surprised.
I actually *did* get my nails done there, pedicure to be exact. The ladies were super sweet, gave an awesome foot rub and did some cute artwork on top of my big toenail (for FREE). I left with my feet singing and my pocketbook only out $18 + tip.
Oh, thought I'd mention that they are less than retail price on Paul Mitchell items. There was a "2 for $36" special and I got both bottles for $35 with tax. :)
Can't complain. It's not immaculate, not even close. But the pedicure chairs were clean, the service was good (and immediate) and I'll be back. :)
I am hesitant to write this review because I don't want to blow the top off my best kept secret in Rainier Valley. But, being the giving person I am, I can no longer hide Tina under my proverbial bushel basket. Like an evangelical Christian preaching the Good Word, I share with you, faithful yelpers: Tina Hair & Nails Salon.
Let me tell you about my new best friend, 12 Dollar Tina. Long gone are the days of $50 Dustys and $75 Chads. For many years I was swayed by the hip salons, the organic aromatherapy treatments, and the free glasses of sauvingnon blanc and loose-leaf tea of these false prophets.
I have seen the light.
But seriously...I really needed a haircut on a Sunday, so I drove down Rainier looking for the first place that was open. I stumbled upon this place and went in out of sheer I-really-need-an-effing-haircut-today desperation. I got one of the best haircuts of resent years and was in and out in 20 minutes.
The girl who cut my hair (I'm assuming it was Tina) was friendly, polite, super quick and always does a great job. I've been in 3 or 4 times and haven't been disappointed. The place is fairly uninviting from the outside, and its not the most organized or tidy inside...I don't think I'll be taking them up on any nail or waxing services anytime soon. If you're expecting to be pampered, this isn't the place for you.
One tip: If you're looking for a specific style, bring in your own pictures. Their hair books are at least 20 years old, and english is a second language in this place.
